IN MEMORY - W. Bro. Robert
Austin Jarrell died May 6, 1973 in Ft. Lauderdale Fla. To all who knew him, he
was either "Mose " or “Uncle Mose” II Jarrell. W. Bro. Mose had
the subtle ability of persuasion to which few were immune. Seemingly, what Mose
wanted, Mose got! Freemasonry was a great part of his life. Early in the 1960's
he was presented the KNIGHT OF THE YORK CROSS, a coveted award, awarded to those
who have held the principle office of BLUE LODGE and all the bodies of the YORK RITE.
He served as Master of Memorial Lodge for 5 or 6 years, performing the Masonic
Funeral Service on average 90 times per year.
Sometime during the late 1960's he and his wife, the late Reverend
Frances Jarrell, formed the UNITY CHURCH in Pompano Beach Florida. Together, she
the Minister and he the promoter, organized and built the Church and building.
W. Bro. Mose also served two or
more terms as Worthy Patron of the ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR.
His "folksy - back
home" manner of expression and subtle humor will be remembered by all who
knew him.
There are many who were capable
of forming our new Lodge but few could have accomplished it with same
equanim1ty.
