1976 WILLARD JESSE GIBSON, born 1926,
in Fork Mountain, Tenn. Raised to degree of Master Mason during 1967, in
Seminole Lodge No.304 Occupation -Welder. Master of the Lodge at age 50. W. Bro. Willard Gibson responded
to History Committee request by paying tribute to all who assisted in helping to
beautify and modernize our Temple during 1976, with special thanks to: Bro.
Robert Johanson for removing dead pine tree from northeast corner of parking
lot. Bro.
Tom Helwig and W. Bro. William Townsend for installation of turbine ventilators
on building roof, and for awning attached to new kitchen to cover B-B-Q pit. A fund was started to provide
new drop ceiling and lighting for the Lodge Room. W. Bro. Gibson had much praise
for our Bro. I. A. Pop Sterling who came forth with sizable cash donation to
complete the project, and to Bro. Tom Helwig and other members who did the
installation. Bro. Gibson now resides “down the road apiece” from Rockwood
Tennessee .
1977 KENNETH HAROLD NANCE, born 1935
in Shelbyville, Tenn. Raised to the degree of Master Mason during 1970, in
Seminole Lodge No. Occupation - Utility Foreman. Master of the Lodge at age 42. In response to History Committee
request, W. Bro. Nance submitted the following data: Voiced appreciation for his
Officers and their dedication to Freemasonry.
Deeming it a privilege to have been Master during our 25th year of existence and reflected
on the 25th Anniversary Celebration, held April 11, 1977, where R.W. Bro. Floyd
Hamilton was honored as our second, and senior living Worshipful Master of the
Lodge. Was justifiably generous in praise and appreciation for our Bro. I. A.
Pop Sterling both for his generosity and compassion He was pleased to present
Bro. Sterling with a Life Membership Card in behalf of the Lodge. Was both pleased and somewhat
flustered at November l4th meeting when W. Bro. Bill Townsend surprised him
"by bringing with him, to Lodge, many Brothers who are peers of my
employment.
Among additions and changes to
the Temple, "the most significant was made possible by the generosity of
many Brothers, contributing toward the purchase of pulpit-type chairs for the
Principle Stations in the Lodge." Voiced the opinion that just as each
Master will leave a mark on the Lodge, just as surely Seminole "has left an
enduring impression on my life", and that for having served, will collect
an annuity of "Friendship and Brotherly Love for years to come. " The History Committee is aware
of many hours that W. Bro. Nance spent in and about the Temple repairing,
realigning, and organizing various components that gives the overall appearance
of an organized and viable institution. *

* BLOOD BANK
-For the past dozen or more years, Seminole Lodge has had an active blood bank
program, and here again we are indebted to Bro. I. A. Pop Sterling who initiated
the program and Chairs the annual drive for blood. Besides serving our own
membership needs, occasionally sojourning Brother, either visiting or residing
in the area, has need of blood, and from time to time our Masonic Home in St.
Petersburg appeals to the particular Lodges for blood for guests of the Home.
This year (1977) the Lodge has elected to furnish 20-units of blood to
the Home, this being one of W. Bro. Nance's objectives.
As an incentive, Bro. Sterling extends standing invitation of breakfast
to each who donate or if preferable, dinner at a local restaurant.
This year, as in the past three or four, Bro. Sterling is donating a
wristwatch, a drawing, for one of the lucky donors.
